We're still open during construction!

So, the big news:

The Wickford sewer project is finally starting!

In case you've forgotten the timeline, the referenda concerning the sewers to benefit Wickford commercial properties passed by 87% back in June of 2014 and in May of 2016, the North Kingstown Town Council approved a specific plan for construction with a start date of spring 2017.

And here we are! We're all very excited for the positive impact this project has the potential to bring to Wickford, but before we get there, there is the construction.

So here's what you need to know:

WE WILL BE OPEN!!!

We will remain open throughout construction as much as possible. The only reason we might close is if specific phases of the project make entry into the building too difficult or possibly dangerous. In those cases, we will do our best to communicate ahead of time through Facebook, or Instagram, or even just old=fashioned signs on the door!

THERE WILL BE PARKING!!!

There will be slightly less street parking during the construction project, but only in the area where construction is ongoing. This will ensure that there is enough space for cars to safely travel in both directions around workers. There will always be parking in the public municipal lot, and the sidewalks will remain clear.

CONSTRUCTION WILL BE IN PHASES!!!

The whole project is estimated to take two years, so, similar to the Hussey Bridge repair project, construction will be broken into phases to keep Wickford accessible during our busier seasons. Construction will begin any day now, and will stop for the summer by June 19th. It will recommence in the fall, and cease again by the end of October.

WE WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SEE YOU!!!

No one likes construction; we know. It can be dusty and noisy and a bit of a pain. But all of us here in Wickford will need your support through this noisy time if we're all going to still be here when the dust settles.

See? None of that is so scary, right?

We at the Drummer are always proud to be part of such a resilient and forward-thinking community, and we're looking forward to bright new things ahead on the other side of this!
