Different Drummer pairs with Chavez for Charity!
For quite some time, Different Drummer has offered the wonderful bracelets from Chavez for Charity; an organization which donates 25% of its proceeds to charitable groups. These fun, brightly colored bracelets allow each of us to support a myriad of wonderful causes, from clean water to affordable and accesible health care, from organizations which seek to end violence and hatred, to those which seek to promote music and the arts in our schools.
These colorful bracelets have been a wonderful way for many of our customers to give a more meaningful gift to a friend or loved one, but they have also been a wonderful way for we at Different Drummer to have more meaningful conversations with our customers. We have loved the opportunity to share in the stories and learn about the causes which are important to our friends and neighbors.
Now we have a very special opportunity to give back to those very neighbors.
Chavez for Charity has introduced the 11th bracelet project; a way for retailers to select a local charity deserving of greater support. We at Different Drummer are thrilled at this opportunity, and are proud to be supporting the North Kingstown Food Pantry.
The North Kingstown Food Pantry has been serving in the community of North Kingstown for over 30 years. In recent years, during the economic downturn which we are all so familiar with, need has increased significantly, and the NK Food Pantry now serves an estimated 7500 meals per month from their facility. Though many give generously, more support is always needed, and it is with this in mind that Different Drummer will be matching Chavez for Charity's contribution dollar for dollar.
In addition, during the month of May Different Drummer will be collecting food donations in the store. Each item donated will be rewarded with a raffle ticket for the chance to win one of five new Chavez for Charity bracelets!
