19” with 2” extender amethyst and turquoise bead necklace with 1 ¾” extender, wampum and turquoise inlay Navajo pendant. Sterling silver.
This beautifully handcrafted jewelry is made of wampum, the purple and white cut shell of the quahog. Quahogs are native to Narragansett Bay and Long Island Sound. Regional Native Americans cut this hard shell into beads to string for personal decoration as well as a means of trade or money.
